Medical Assistants: The Necessary Qualifications
More than half of all physician assistants work in private offices. Job security and growth should continue to rise until 2018. Job Description

Optometric assistants work with an optometrist to perform tests, instruct patients on contact lenses and perform other necessary tasks. Podiatric assistants make castings of feet, developing x-rays and can help to surgery.
Qualification
Medical assistants can be trained on the job, but it is much more common for students to complete a 1 year or 2 year program. Technical schools and community or junior colleges offer courses and students receive a certificate or diploma or an associate degree as a function of the duration of the program. The courses teach students about anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, transcription, accounting and insurance. In addition, students will be trained in laboratory techniques, clinical procedures and diagnosis, office practices, patient relations and first aid.
